Problem
Problem
Finding a service provider for wellness happens across scattered channels (social media, word-of-mouth, online search)and booking is just as inconsistent, with providers relying on their own apps, DMs, or walk-ins. This results in a fragmented and inconsistent experience before the service even begins

As a solo project, I conducted research (competitive analysis, user flows) to define my design goals, then created a design system (tokens, core components) to design the booking experience for Bookable

Fragmented discovery and booking
Fragmented discovery and booking
Discovery is fragmented; users piece together recommendations from social media, word-of-mouth, and online search to find the right service professional

Booking is fragmented too. Providers use different systems for scheduling and payment, adding friction before the service has even started

KEY DECISION #1
Visual emphasis on photos & reviews for social proof
Visual emphasis on photos & reviews for social proof
Photos and reviews were some of the strongest drivers of trust in my secondary research
I gave both strong visual emphasis in the interface, using them as social proof, to help users decide where to do business with more confidence

KEY DECISION #2
In-app booking system
In-app booking system
During competitive analysis, I found that most platforms in this space required users to switch apps just to book an appointment, right at the moment they most motivated to commit

To close that gap, I designed a native booking flow so users can go from discovery to confirmed appointment without leaving the app

KEY DECISION #3
Manage upcoming & previous appointments
Manage upcoming & previous appointments
Competitive analysis showed that booking platforms let users view, modify, and rate their appointments in one place
I applied the same pattern in Bookable, letting users modify upcoming appointments and rate completed ones without leaving the app

Takeaways
Takeaways
Working on this project taught me how to apply common mobile interface design patterns. The fast timeline was the biggest parameter of this project. If I were to continue the design, I would like to develop the appointment management flow even further to demonstrate how users may chat with the professional or request to edit their appointment
